Segolene Royal in the Caribbean: commitment to youth. Segolene Royal

Dear Friends Wishes for the future,

Today ends the shift work Ségolène Royal in the Caribbean, with a final step in Pointe a Pitre. Accompanied by Mayor Jacques Bangou, she first met with neighborhood associations working for the integration of young people, particularly through civic service. Then she attended a roundtable in the south east of the city with the association "Gasse" which fight against illiteracy and prostitution of adolescents continues to grow. In these areas the unemployment rate for 18-25 year olds is around 60%.

Segolene Royal has interacted with people who have decided to take matters in hand, with help from the council. She also met with an association of young musicians, who created a recording studio, a veritable cultural source in one of the most disadvantaged districts of Pointe a Pitre. In this studio, creation is free but the rules of common life are very strict. With this framework agreed by the young artists can express themselves in full mutual respect.

But if Pointe a Pitre suffers and struggles with a profound sense of abandonment of the state, including in terms of security means the city is undergoing profound changes or even through a renaissance urban renewal plan, the largest in the country: 430 million euros of work on the next 8 years in a city where 80% of the population is eligible for social housing.

One way to give hope to the youth is the civic service. Bernard Lesterlin, member of the Allier and civic service specialist, who accompanied Ségolène Royal in this movement, has proposed to strengthen cooperation between the city of Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe Region and the National Civic Service.

A morning full of dialogue, listening and proposals.

During this last day of visit, Segolene Royal said that the commitment against youth unemployment should be a great national cause and mobilize all energies, those of the State, local and companies have a responsibility in this regard.

The day before, in Basse Terre, the administrative capital of Guadeloupe, Segolene Royal has signed with Victorin Lurel, President of the Guadeloupe Region two conventions, one on environmental excellence, one on youth employment

The two regions are indeed affected by an unemployment rate of 18 to 25 year high: + 50% in Guadeloupe, 27% in Poitou-Charentes. Each of the two regions has developed its side against a plan to fight youth unemployment.

Below is the two conventions and the decisions that were parenariat taken.

During this movement of work in Martinique and Guadeloupe, Segolene Royal has recalled that there is hope for France that suffers and struggles, whether metropolitan or ultramarine, despite broken promises required. Because as stated by the President of Future Desires several times, either at a meeting with the friendly inhabitants of the City of Crane, Lamentin in Guadeloupe or young people met in Trinidad to Martinique " policy is primarily to keep its promises "

Persuaders.

Team Ségolène Royal
